Title: Cultural Expression and Poetic Dialogue in the Civilizational Mutual Learning: An Interview with Professor Jiang Shuzhuo
Abstract: Civilizational mutual learning is a vital driving force for the progress of human civilization and the advancement of global peace. In line with the trend of the times, contributing Eastern wisdom to promote civilizational dialogue and exchange serves as a crucial path to constructing a discourse system of literary and art theory with Chinese characteristics and realizing the diversity of world civilizations. Over his teaching career of nearly 40 years, Professor Jiang Shuzhuo has consistently employed cultural poetics to construct a mechanism for dialogue between Chinese and Western traditions. His empirical research in fields such as ancient Chinese literary theory, world Chinese literature, and popular arts has achieved an organic unity of cultural subjectivity and civilizational mutual learning. Focusing on the initiative of Chinese culture “going global”, he extends his academic research to practical concerns. All these endeavors reflect the strong sense of responsibility characteristic of a humanities scholar committed to serving national strategies and promoting cultural exchange between China and the West.
